Want to be in the next THIS GIRL CAN campaign?

We've been asked by the casting team for the THIS GIRL CAN campaign if we know of any mums-to-be who would like to be in their next TV commercial.

Here are all the details:
--

We are currently casting the new THIS GIRL CAN campaign for Sport England. Much like the last tv commercial we are looking for 'real' women (not actors, models or extras) who can go on to inspire other women to get out there and exercise!

We are looking for brilliant, bold and brave girls and women who do some kind of sport or fitness.

This time round, we are featuring the 'I can't' moments and seeing how women often find a way to get through them and make them 'I can' moments.

We'd like to find a woman who would be willing to go through labour with someone filming her for the campaign.

It will be just a portrait shot of a woman pushing. You won't see anything other than the womans face and body pushing. Showing the strength the female goes through.

We would like to find someone due at the end of November/ beginning of December and would have one female camera operator at the ready.

It would be a beautifully shot memory for anyone willing to take part plus a fee.

Please note: We are NOT looking for actors, models, extras or the like. You mustn’t have been in anything before including extra work. The shoot will be for a nationwide campaign and imagery will be used in all media channels.

The production company is Somesuch. You will be fully paid.

Many thanks

Leanne

PS If you'd like to see the last campaign that we cast and Somesuch produced it's here-

Durnsford Park, Not Wimbledon Park This Week

With the Tennis Championships heading our way, SW19 will soon become the sporting focus of the world again.

During this busy fortnight (27 June to 10 July), all of our classes will continue to run, however this year we'll be temporarily moving out of Wimbledon Park (it's the Council's new policy unfortunately).

So this here's the plan:

Buggyfit postnatal classes will take place in Durnsford Park (see below). We'll be there at our regular times of 9.30am on Wednesdays & 11.00am on Thursdays (29, 30 June & 6,7 July). If you've got older children, bring them along as there is a fantastic little playground!

Fit In The Park 6.15am sessions will meet just outside of the Revelstoke Road Wimbledon Park gates. We'll then be putting you through your paces with some running drills around the grid & surrounding areas. It should be fun & you don't have to be a runner to take part! See you there at 6.15am on Wednesday & Friday.

Fit In The Park Saturday 9.00am classes will also take place in Durnsford Park (see below). We'll be there on 2 & 9 July with some challenging new moves for you!

Durnsford Park is a lovely green area just off Durnsford Road (put SW19 8EY into your sat nav). You'll find street parking (pay-at-machine) on Wellington, Lucien, Gordondale, Havana & Mount Roads. It's a bit further away from where all the action is, so there are no Wimbledon Tennis parking restrictions.

Obviously we do recommend leaving your car at home & giving your workout an extra boost by walking, running or cycling to our classes. However, if you're driving around Wimbledon during the tennis fortnight, it can get very busy, so it's wise to plan in extra travel time. Parking can also be challenging as there are restrictions in place. Go to the Wandsworth & Merton council websites for details.

All of our South Park Gardens classes will be running as normal. Check out our timetable for full details of all our classes. Be warned though, we've got some great workouts planned & we may even include a tennis theme here & there. We know this is a busy time, but we'd love to see as many of you as possible training with us over the coming weeks. If you need to renew your pass, or buy a pay-as-you-go session, head over to our purchase page.

Happy Training,

Heather

The New Club...

Many of you have been saying that you'd like to come to our early Wimbledon Park sessions, but when the alarm goes off, it's all too easy to roll over & hide under the duvet.

So we've set-up the Don't Hit Snooze, Grab Your Shoes Club!

It's all about motivating each other to get out of bed & into the Park. You can find out who is going to which classes & tell everyone which ones you'll be committing to.

It's very informal. To join, all you have to do is email me saying that you'd like to share your email address with other people who come to the 6.15am Wimbledon Park sessions. You'll then be able to join in the chat & get motivated!

We're rolling it out in Wimbledon Park. But if you think this would work for you in South Park Gardens, drop me a line & I'll set it up.

Early Morning Sessions Are Changing Slightly

We've had a lot of requests for our early sessions to finish at 7am.  We suggested a 45 minute intense session, but have heard some of our hardcore clients would like the full hour. As no-one is keen to start at 6am, we’ve come up with a good solution.

We’ll start on the dot at 6.15am, with a warm-up & intense express session that will finish at 7.00am. Following this, there will be a 15 minute challenging strength & core session.  This gives you the option of a 45 minute or 60 minute class.

This new format applies to all of our 6.15am sessions in Wimbledon Park & South Park Gardens, & will start next week.

We’ve got some challenging new workouts planned to wake you up & have you glowing all day!

We Are Happy!

We were really excited to be asked to take part in the We Are Happy film at our Fit In The Park class on Saturday in Wimbledon Park.

It's a 4 minute film about different people & businesses in our community & the music is set to the We Are Happy song . The film should go live in about 4 weeks time, so watch this space...!

Want to get into shape for the summer? It's time to start working on it now...

Our 2 Thursday night 5-week BootCamps start tomorrow night & we've still got a few spaces left.

We're closing the bookings at 3pm tomorrow (Thursday), so don't hang around. Either book online, or drop us an email asap.

We've got fresh ideas & new moves for all those BootCampers who came last time, & we'd also love to welcome some new clients too.

Both BootCamps are progressive so you'll see yourself improving over the course. And if you can't make it to all 5 sessions, you can catch up at one of our Fit In The Park classes (just let us know before you come along.)

If the rain puts you off, these sessions are for you. We ditch the mud & the cold of the parks for 2 lovely indoor halls with heating, lighting & decent toilets!

Struggling To Find The Time To Exercise?

There's a small group of us who wake up early & meet in Wimbledon Park at 6.15am on a Mon, Wed & Fri. We're looking for a few more friends to join us on our early morning fitness adventures. We have the park to ourselves & it's wonderful to hear the birds sing while you train (much better than the din you get at the gym!).

We meet at the Revelstoke Road entrance to the park & there is free parking at that time in the morning. Each session lasts an hour, but if you need to head off to work, you're welcome to leave early (as long as you do a cool down at home).

So set your alarm for early & join us on Mon at 6.15am. You'll glow for the rest of the day!

Wimbledon Park - New Training Location

As Wimbledon Park is a little wet under foot, we've decided to change our Fit In The Park training ground to next to the tennis courts. We'll meet-up in the usual spot (to the left of the Revelstoke Road entrance during the week & to the right of the carpark on Sat). We'll then move onto the following location (latecomers please go straight there).

Come into the park from the Revelstoke Road entrance & turn left. Walk up the path with the tennis courts on your right. We'll be training on the patch of concrete to the left of the path.

Wimbledon Park Buggyfit
will continue to meet at the cafe as usual & will use different parts of the park, depending on numbers & conditions.

4 HA fitness classes left in 2013!!

Mon: 9.30am, Buggyfit, South Park Gardens
Mon: 7.15pm, Fit In The Park, South Park Gardens

Our Mon night class will be going ahead at 7.15pm, however due to the school being closed, we will run it in South Park Gardens (meet at the Trinity Road entrance).

We'd love to see as many people as possible at our last class in South Park Gardens on Christmas Eve (9.15am on Tue). No cards will be ticked, just throw some cash into Santa's hat at the end. All of the money will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Don't forget to wear something festive. Mince pies at the end for those who work really hard!

We start up again, with a full class timetable on Thursday 2nd January 2014!

We'd like to wish you & your family a Happy Christmas & fantastic 2014!

Thank you so much for your support & friendship in 2013.

Very best wishes,

Stuck For A Present Idea? How About The Gift Of Fitness?

Whether it's for a regular exerciser, or someone who'll appreciate being nudged in the right direction, an HA fitness gift voucher is the ideal present.

We have professionally printed cards available for our classes & personal training sessions (within a 3 mile radius of Wimbledon, London). It's a really versatile present, just let us know how much you'd like to spend & we'll do the rest. Once we've received your payment, we'll pop the voucher in the post to you or the recipient (we can hand deliver if necessary). It's quick, easy & stress free.

Email us now & make someone smile on Christmas Day!

Posted by Heather Waghorn.

We hope you're "running" up to Christmas with plenty of energy & enthusiasm?

If you're finding that life's getting too busy & exercise is dropping down in priority on your to-do list. Don't make excuses for why you can't train. Focus on all the reasons why you must make it happen. Energy levels, feeling positive about yourself & avoiding weight gain. Make sure you join us in the park this side of Christmas & you'll feel a lot better for it come the New Year!

Happy Training!

Bring it on!

wet-runner-.jpg

Give me a rainy day anytime! It's part of the thrill of outdoor training.

Admittedly, you have to dig deep & toughen up a bit. But once you get out the door, & put one foot in front of the other, you stop noticing the rain & start enjoying the challenge.

During our classes & personal training sessions, we try to keep you as snug as possible. We'll find a big tree to shelter under. We'll keep you off the wet ground & we'll work you so hard you won't feel the cold or notice the rain!

You'll probably end up doing something a bit different too. Take a look at the email we received last month from a Buggyfit mum:

Hi Heather,
I just wanted to tell you what a lovely class we had with Kate in South Park this morning. It was pouring with rain most of the time & there were only five of us. But, as ever, she was cheerful & upbeat. We had a great time with weight balls & the ladder thingy, which we don't normally do with the bigger classes. She is a great instructor.
 Best wishes,
 Daniella Horwitz

Still unsure? Here our Top Tips for when it's really lashing it down:

1) Protect your phone by putting it in a zip lock food bag.

2) Avoid cotton clothes, which just soak up the water. Go for something synthetic & moisture wicking.

3) Unless it's really, really cold, don't overdress in head-to-toe waterproofs. You'll just overheat & sweat a lot. A lightweight jacket is usually sufficient.

4) Dry your trainers out by removing the inner soles & stuffing the shoe with newspaper to soak up some of the moisture. Don't, whatever you do, put them on the radiator or in the oven. It just makes them smell & they'll never really be the same again.

5) Fearlessly splashing through puddles like a big kid is a great way of taking your mind off your workout!

So next time it looks like rain, put your trainers on, grab your waterproof & embrace the elements with us. We promise you'll be buzzing with achievement & smugness by the end of the session!

Change is afoot...

With the new term starting, it's been a busy couple of weeks for the team. Collectively we've deserted 4 little darlings at Big School & 1 older one at Uni for the first time. So if the sessions have been extra tough recently, we're sorry for taking it out on you!

Now that we've mastered the new routine, we'd like to make a couple of adjustments to your class timetable, so get your diaries ready.

New Wednesday Evening Class In South Park Gardens, Wimbledon

Thank you for all the positive responses about our new Wednesday evening class. We'll be starting on 2nd October in South Park Gardens at 7.15pm. We'll meet near the Trinity Road entrance where there is more light.

Monday Night Class Moving To Holy Trinity School Hall, Wimbledon

Starting from the 7th October our Monday evening class will be going indoors. We'll be putting you through your paces in the Front Hall at Holy Trinity Primary School. Situated on Effra Road, the school is just 2 minutes walk from SPG.  The French windows will be open at the front of the school, which leads you straight into the hall. There's free parking on Effra road in the evening.
