National trail

What does the acorn symbol mean when you’re walking in England and Wales?

Ever spotted this little acorn on a walk and wondered what it is? It’s an NT logo. And no, not the National Trust (that’s a completely different oak themed symbol!).

This acorn marks a National Trail.

National Trails are long distance walking routes that showcase some of the most stunning landscapes in England and Wales. There are 16 in total, each offering its own mix of scenery, history, and viewpoints.

This particular one belongs to the North Downs Way in Surrey, which we’ll be exploring a section of next Sunday ((St Martha’s Hill, The Silent Pool Hike)

Stretching 153 miles (246 km), the North Downs Way is packed with incredible views, from rolling countryside and picturesque villages to dramatic panoramas. The route runs all the way from Farnham in Surrey to Canterbury, finishing at the iconic White Cliffs of Dover in Kent.

Have you explored any of the National Trails?
